Samantha's Imagination

Samantha has a great imagination. She is content to sit by herself and play out scenarios with her animals, dolls, dinosaurs, whatever. Here, it looks like she is playing primary with her animals.

Funny Kids

It's the last day of school today so what did Breazy, Maranda and Andria do the minute they got home from school? Play school of course!

More Solar Cooking

I've had some fun experimenting with my solar oven this week. First I baked whole wheat bread but I didn't leave it in long enough and it was kind of late in the day. So it wasn't quite done but Danica likes it that way. Then I tried oatmeal bread which had to stay in the oven while I ran several errands and it got a little crusty which is how Chandler and Hanna like it. Lucky me. I like that little oven and I love free energy!

Mother's Day 2008

Last Sunday was Mother's Day. I got some fun gifts from my cute girls, but I was sad that Danica was still in California with her cousins. She came back home later that day.

This is Andria with her picture and frame that she made in school.
Maranda made some flowers in school and she also made a picture in a frame all by herself. Here are all my kids except Dani. Hanna made me a card and wrote in it in Spanish. It's great that she can do that, but she did have to translate for me.
Maranda, Samantha, Zanya and Andria
Danica and Maranda had a brunch with their activity days groups and their Mom's on Saturday. It was fun and delicious. They made nice cards for me that they gave me at the brunch. We also played a game where we looked at baby pictures of all the girls and all the moms and tried to guess who was who. They said Maranda's baby picture was pretty easy to spot. Some said Zan looks just like her.

Zan and Booker

Booker came over to play one day, and Hanna took some cute pictures.

Solar Oven

We bought this solar oven at the same time we bought our pressure canner - last year. We thought today would be a great day to try it out. So, the girls baked cookies. They turned out great, although they do take a little longer to bake.

Strawberry Jam

I went to the fruit store while MamaGinger was watching my girls and strawberries were on sale there 2lbs for one dollar! So I bought 15lbs and came home to make some freezer jam. MamaG helped me and I ran out of pectin after 10lbs of strawberries but we made quite a lot of jam. Yum! These are all the jars in the house. After we eat the jam from the pint and quart jars, we can use the pressure canner again and can something new.

A skirt for every season

Zan decided that she really liked skirts and wanted to wear one every day. So Jan decided it would be fun to make some. Here are some that we made for Zan's birthday. She likes the green one best but also wears the others when the green one is in the laundry.

Trip to the Zoo

Jannalee, Sam and Zan went to the zoo this week with nine of Jan's friends and 18 children! It was so much fun. We saw some great animals:

The tiger The giraffe The orangutan
Not sure what this is but we like it.
Here are the baboons
Then at the end of the day, we played in the new water park at the zoo. It was cool and fun! We ate our lunch there and then headed home for a long nap.
Here's Sam and Zan with Emma
This is the water park at the zoo, isn't it great?

Here we are in the monkey cage, we didn't want to leave!
